Kick-off conference 2013
In January 2013, the inauguration conference of the Indian-European Multi-level Climate Governance Research Network (IECGN) was held in New Delhi. It offered the first opportunity for a personal gathering of the five research groups involved. These hail from India, Germany and the Netherlands. The theme of the kick-off conference was “Potentials and Constraints of Effective Multi-level Climate Governance - the Role of Lower Levels of Government”.
Senior and early career researchers presented and discussed their ideas for publications and research projects, focussing on how climate policy unfolds, being both propelled and impeded by multi-level climate governance structures in India and the EU. Indian-European teams discussed in small groups and in the plenary sessions how research projects, theorizing, writing projects, and career development could be performed in the network. The key objectives of the network were defined.
