Dr. Kirsten Jörgensen
Kirsten Jörgensen is senior lecturer at the Freie Universität of Berlin, Department of Political and Social Sciences and member of the executive committee of the Environmental Policy Research Centre. She received her Ph. D. in 1996. Kirsten Jörgensen was a member of the Berlin Parliament from 1987 to 1989. Since 1992 she has lectured at diverse universities, including TERI University, New Delhi, India (2008, 2007, 2006), Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Russia, MGIMO (2006), University of Maryland, College Park, USA (2001), University of Latvia, Riga, Latvia (1993-1994), Technical University of Gdansk, Poland (1992-1997) and Politechnika Gdanska, Poland (1992 –1997) and, at the same time, lead several research projects in Poland, Latvia and Russia. During the academic year 2001/02 she was a Research Fellow at the German-American Center, Washington D.C. and at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies, Johns Hopkins University, Washington D.C. A project manager of the interdisciplinary Master’s programme Public and Private Environmental Management (since 2002) and of the Minor in Environmental Management (since 1996), she currently teaches at the Freie Universität Berlin and is also teaching director at the FFU. Her primary fields of interest include German and European environmental policy as well as governance for sustainable development in federal systems and in international comparative perspective. Recently, her work has been focused on intensifying the scientific research dialogue between Germany and India.
Her key research and teaching areas include: German and European environmental policy; governance for sustainable development in federal systems and in international comparative perspective; environmental governance in India
