Susan Varugheses is currently pursuing a PhD from the Dept. of Ecology & Environmental Sciences, Pondicherry University. The research deals with rural informal groundwater transactions in the Varahanadi sub-basin, Tamil Nadu. She completed Masters in Ecology & Environmental Sciences from the same University and Bachelors in Environmental Sciences from Delhi University and has a diploma in Information Technology (DNIIT) from NIIT, Delhi.

Her research interests broadly include sustainable community level management of water resources, water transactions, laws and rights relating to water.
